Title Probing the organizational and evolutionary principles of bio-molecularnetworks by subnetworks
Abstract Biomolecular network analyses have been highly successful in revealing the large-scale organizational and evolutionary principles of a cell.
Such studies tend to focus on graph theoretical analysis of nodes and edges within a single, global biomolecular network. In this talk I would like to emphasize the concept of subnetworks and present our recent efforts and results. Specifically, we will demonstrate a high degree of functional and evolutionary heterogeneity within biological networks, and highlights the rich insights that can be gained from modeling biomolecular subnetworks. This has far-reaching implications to the study of subnetworks of other kinds of networks, such as computer networks and social networks.
