Bioinformatics Center of Kyoto University has conducted international education and research with Bioinformatics Program of Boston University, USA and a systems biology research group in Berlin, Germany, under the support of Joint Bioinformatics Education Program and 21st Century Centers of Excellence (COE) Program: Knowledge Information Infrastructure for Genome Science.
The international trainging program, International Research and Training Program on Bioinformatics and Systems Biology continues this activity with extensive efforts, keeping two main features:
|
- An annual research
workshop with oral and poster presentations by young
researchers and graduate students.
Currently a three-day workshop has been annually held in one of the
three involving contries.
This workshop has more than 100 participants, around 20 oral and around
30 poster presentations.
We will continue this workshop, keeping the current scale in a lot of
aspects.
- A fellowship program, allowing around five graduate
students/young researchers to make research stay at partner institutions
annually.
The duration of each stay will be around three months.
|
Throughout this program, we cultivate/improve the communicating,
discussing and negotiation skill of the participating students/young
researchers as well as their ability of promoting bioinformatics research.
Overall, our program will foster young researchers who can promote new
research to be internationally renowned not only in basics of bioinformatics
but also in more application-oriented research fields, such as
pharmaceutical and medical sciences.
